Two-Headed Snake...

Throughout my
life’s most difficult journeys,
I’ve seen,
I’ve smelt,
I’ve felt the breaths
rushing, out from between
the fangs of a two-headed snake...

Perception
and
Expectation.

Writhing along,
seemingly, boldly,
coldly, seeking game;
got its eyes upon me,
licking its hungry lips,
wondering whence I may succumb
to such pressures that I can no longer take...

Negation
and
Self-repudiation.

Alas,
what the snake knows not,
is that I know It all too well,
and I know myself even more,
far more than Its wants and lusts
ever could, or might, or may...

Swallow
and
Regurgitate.

Alas,
what the snake knows not,
is that so long as ones’ eyes are open,
and clear, and ever watchful,
then, this beast, this two-headed snake,
has become, rather, the hunted, today.
