Remembering You...
The other day
A dear friend of mine
Showed me an old photo of you;
Sitting there, so you, so magnificently,
Resting atop your doorstep -
Just like I had oh so often, left you.
And in seeing this weathered photo,
I thanked God to have been able to see anew
Your being and your sweet smiling eyes -
And I was so deeply moved, remembering,
Those tender loving feelings
That you once felt for me.
I had to struggle to contain that night,
Those deep feelings that had laid dormant
For oh so many, many years,
I had to fight off hard those trembles
That overwhelmed me when I remembered
Those innocent, loving kisses we once shared.
Oh God, how I wish
Our paths might someday cross again,
That we might continue where we had left off.
Oh God, how I wish
That just some day, should good fortune by mine,
That we might love one another again!
Surely, I'm only foolishly dreaming,
As I always have, as I did then, too,
Oh precious woman, if only you could know -
You'll always remain a most important love of my life!
